Happy Friday

We've been praying specifically — along with many of you — that my platelets would stay up this week for my infusion today. This was the week in my last cycle that I had to cancel chemo because my platelets were so low. The Zarxio shots are keeping my white blood cell count up, but they only last for the week, so those will have been in vain if my platelets are too low. My blood draws today showed my platelets were in the normal range and we attribute that blessing directly to your faith-filled prayers and fasting! Thank you so much. I was able to move forward with treatment today!

Glen and I had a glorious day-and-a-half in Flagstaff this week. The temperatures were almost 30 degrees cooler than in Peoria. It was so beautiful. We did as much as we could outside. We strolled through NAU campus, walked among the ponderosa pines at the Arboretum, sat outside and read, and drove everywhere with the windows rolled down! We actually had a bit of rain, which cooled things off even more.

Originally, we had planned to get away next Wednesday and Thursday, but we had to make some last-minute changes because Rebekah’s nasal surgery was changed to Monday instead of this week. She has a deviated septum, among other things, that she's having corrected before she heads back up to college. She will likely have about a two-week recovery. The first week she'll have to be in bed with stints in her nose, but the following Monday she'll have the stints removed. If she feels well enough, she can go back to her office job with no heavy lifting. She will be under anesthesia for about 90 mins at an outpatient facility. She just had her COVID test done yesterday and we will be praying that all will go smoothly without any complications.

I'm getting my Zarxio shots again next M T F, and on Friday I'll meet with Dr. Curley before my drug infusion. If all goes well, that will be my last dose of Carboplatin! Thank you for fighting with us.
